–Youngkin’s Odds Improve Over McAuliffe’s Following Trump’s Support–
Glenn Youngkin is now the odds-on favorite to win the 2021 Virginia Gubernatorial Election, according to betting aggregators US-Bookies.com (See Disclaimer Below). Youngkin’s odds to win the election have improved from 17/10 (37% implied probability) to 5/7 (58.3%) since last week. Terry McAuliffe’s have worsened from 9/10 (52.6%) to 6/5 (45.5%) in the same timeframe.
“Last week saw Youngkin closing in on McAuliffe, and now the Republican has finally overtaken the Democrat as the favorite to win the election,” says a US-Bookies spokesperson. “In the final weeks of the campaign, Donald Trump was supporting Youngkin, While Barack Obama and Joe Biden supported McAuliffe, but only Youngkin’s odds improved during this time”

Polling data also now favors Youngkin, as an average of recent polls gives the Republican a lead of less than two points. Betting odds are now more confident in a Youngkin win, as they give him a 58.3% chance to win, compared to McAuliffe’s 45.5% chance.
“Betting data for the Virginia Gubernatorial Election have forecasted a close race for some time, but the odds have finally shown a shift in the favorite,” says a US-Bookies spokesperson. “Along with currently holding better odds than his Democratic competitor, Youngkin’s late momentum is a good sign that the Republican will be elected.”
