We are less than a month away from The Masters, and it’s time to take a closer look at the field. Betting odds continue to update as to which golf player will take home the green jacket.
The first true sign of Spring each year is typically when we see the best golf players in the world take on Augusta National for the Masters. The stage is once again set next month, and there will be another loaded field showing up in Georgia to compete.
The betting odds to win the Masters have been out for months, but things have started to tighten up over the last couple of weeks. This tournament is usually won by one of the best players in the world, but the leaderboard sometimes shows some surprises.
Here is a look at the current odds and some of the golfers that might be in the mix.
No Surprise at the Top
Jon Rahm has never won the Masters Tournament, but he is clearly the betting favorite to win the title in 2022. Rahm is a golfer that has fared well at Augusta National in the past, and it’s hard to envision him not playing well again.
The current betting odds have Rahm at +850, and he just recently emerged as the clear favorite. Rahm was terrific in 2021, and his game appears to be built for this golf course.
Rahm is going to have to play his best golf for four straight days as there is a loaded group of golfers that will have their sights set on knocking off the betting favorite.
Plenty of Contenders Lurking
While Rahm is the clear favorite for the Masters next month, there are plenty of other players to bet on. Here is the next wave of golfers that should be in the mix:
- Jordan Spieth +1100
- Collin Morikawa +1100
- Justin Thomas +1200
- Dustin Johnson +1400
- Rory McIlroy +1400
- Xander Schauffele +1600
- Bryson DeChambeau +1600
- Viktor Hovland +1600
That list of players above is pretty much a “who’s who” of golf superstars, and each player has a realistic shot at winning next month. Some previous winners are included in this group, and there are also golfers that always seem to show up and play well at Augusta National.
Always Some Surprises
One of the biggest reasons that this golf tournament is always so popular is that surprises do occur from time to time. It’s not uncommon to see a big betting underdog near the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round on Sunday.
If you are someone that wants to bet on an underdog, then you should be taking a close look at the golfers on the list below:
- Brooks Koepka +2000
- Patrick Cantlay +2000
- Cameron Smith +2200
- Hideki Matsuyama +2600
