Soccer Predictions: Expect Goals in Champions League Qualification

soccer stadium

Even though the proper competition in the Champions League won’t begin until September, qualifications have already started. There are three games scheduled for today, and we picked two for our bet slip.

Borac vs. PAOK – Over 2.5 Goals (-200)

First, the Greek team PAOK will host Borac from Banja Luka. PAOK, from Thessaloniki, is a big favorite, so money lines are not a good option. They have 4 defeats in their last 4 games, but it’s important to note that all of them were friendly matches. They haven’t changed their team much since last season when they became Greek champions for the fourth time in the club’s history.

On the other side, Borac, the Bosnia and Herzegovina champion, has already made it through one round of Champions League qualification against Albania Egnatia, but this time they face a much more difficult opponent.

We are choosing Over 2.5 goals as the best bet in this case, with odds around -200.

Slovan Bratislava vs. Celje – Both teams to Score (-150)

The next match is expected to be a lot more uncertain as Celje hosts Slovan from Bratislava. The Slovenian champion boosted their roster with 11 players this summer, mostly young talents. Their greatest reinforcement is left winger Ivan Brnic, who is expected to help the offense.

On the other hand, the Slovakian champion brought in fewer players (7), but all of them are very experienced internationals. Moneyline odds for both teams are very similar, and this is another game where goals are expected.

Our choice here would be for both teams to score with odds around -150.

Tennis Picks: ATP Atlanta and Umag

Tennis Court Player Serving

While most of the top players are resting from Wimbledon and preparing for the Olympics, you can still find some interesting matches at ATP Atlanta and Umag. Here are our expert picks:

Adam Walton vs Arthur Rinderknech – Under 23.5 Games (-120)

The French player Arthur Rinderknech (No. 64) is the favorite in this matchup against Adam Walton (No. 95). Rinderknech is better ranked, won their only previous match, and comes from Wimbledon where he defeated former World number 4 Kei Nishikori. His opponent, the younger Australian Adam Walton, had his first Grand Slam victory and recently beat the higher-ranked Miomir Kecmanovic. Rinderknech is expected to win this match. However, a less risky option would be to bet under 23.5 total games during the match, as neither player has had long matches recently. The odds for this bet are about -120.

Picks for ATP Umag – Musetti, Fogini and Darderi to win (+180 in Total)

In Croatia, the ATP Umag tournament features some well-known players. Here are some moneyline bets to consider for the Round of 16:

  • Lorenzo Musetti (No. 17) to win against Marco Trungelliti (No. 136) – Odds about -500;
  • Fabio Fognini (No. 70) to win against Chun Hsin Tseng (No. 159) – Odds about -205;
  • Luciano Darderi (No. 33) to win against Jakub Mensik (No. 81) – Odds about -174.

Combining these small moneyline odds can create a solid betslip, about +180 in total.

Basketball Picks: Spain vs. Canada – Spain to Win (-150)

Everything is standing still in basketball these days, with the Olympics starting in three days. The Summer League is over, the WNBA is on a break, and the national teams are heading into their camps in Paris. However, there is one interesting game scheduled for today: women’s basketball, Spain vs. Canada.

These two teams have already played twice this year, with Spain winning both matches. The first victory came during the Olympic qualifications, and the second was in a friendly game just 10 days ago. Both teams have had mixed results during their series of friendly games this month. Given this context, moneylines for Spain could be a good idea here, with odds around -150.

A bolder option would be betting on the under. The line is set at 138.5, and both teams have shown they focus more on defense when playing against similarly ranked opponents.
