Four of Top Five Democratic Candidates in Gubernatorial Election are Women

Kathy Hochul is the current favorite to be the Democratic nominee in the 2022 New York Gubernatorial Election, according to betting aggregators. Hochul’s odds to win the Democratic nomination are 11/10 (47.6% implied probability), and she’s followed closely by Letitia James, who has 5/2 odds (28.6%).

“Kathy Hochul’s odds will likely be affected by her performance as governor, especially when her nearest competitor is the Attorney General who led the investigation into the allegations against Cuomo,” says a US-bookies spokesperson. “The fact that the Empire State’s last three gubernatorial elections were won by Democrats should bode well for whoever wins the Democratic nomination in 2022.”

Jumaane Williams follows James at 12/1 odds to be the Democratic nominee in the 2022 election (7.7% implied probability). Alessandra Biaggi and Kirsten Gillibrand are close behind at 16/1 (5.9%) and 20/1 (4.8%), respectively.

“By taking over as governor, Hochul became the first female governor of New York, and the bookies expect the 2022 election to be just as historic,” says a US-bookies spokesperson. “As of now, four of the top five candidates to be the Democratic nominee are women, including the favorite and second favorite.”
