There are plenty of MLB games on the schedule for Tuesday, September 20th, and that provides some great betting options. Teams are trying to make one final push to the postseason, while other teams are simply trying to play the role of spoiler.
With so many games scheduled to take place, it won’t be hard to find some good betting options as well. Here are three of the best MLB betting picks to make for games on Tuesday, September 20th. Odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook.
Houston Astros vs. Tampa Bay Rays (-155)
Two of the best teams in the American League continue a series on Tuesday night when the Rays host the Astros. Houston picked up a 4-0 win in the series opener, but it’s the Rays that are the betting favorites in game two of the series.
The reason that the Rays are favored is the fact that Shane McClanahan is on the mound. The lefty is 12-5 with a 2.13 ERA on the year, and he should have a dominant start in this one.
Houston now has 97 wins on the year, and they just continue to rack up the victories. This will be one of those times where the Astros struggle at the plate, though, as McClanahan pitches the Rays to a win to cover the spread.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. New York Yankees -1.5
After getting swept in a four-game series against the Mets, the Pittsburgh Pirates are staying in New York to face the Yankees. Things haven’t gone great for the Yankees in the second half, but they are big favorites in this one.
Aaron Judge is red hot again for the Yankees, and he should have a big day at the plate. New York also has Nestor Cortes on the mound, and he is 10-4 with a 2.70 ERA on the year.
Pittsburgh doesn’t have a starting pitcher lined up, and it likely won’t matter in this one. The Pirates continue to struggle to get outs, and this game could get out of hand in a hurry.
Take the Yankees -1.5 as they blast the Pirates in the series opener.
Cleveland Guardians vs. Chicago White Sox (-170)
The Chicago White Sox host the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night for a huge showdown between AL Central teams. Cleveland is trying to hold on to the division lead while Chicago desperately needs to make up some ground this weekend.
It will be the White Sox that have the pretty clear edge in the starting pitching matchup in the series opener as Dylan Cease will be on the mound. Cease is 14-7 with a 2.16 ERA on the year, and he is good enough to take over any game.
Aaron Civale is just 2-6 with a 5.40 ERA for Cleveland, and this could be a rough start. Chicago continues to try and find more consistency on offense, but that team won’t have to score a ton to win this game.
Bet the Chicago White Sox -170 as they get past the Cleveland Guardians in the series opener.
